Michael and Rachel chose to have their chuppah created in all white and off white fabrics, featuring black and white photos of themselves and their parents and grandparents at their own weddings, as well as their song. Some of the fabrics I used were viintage, and some contemporary, which really enhanced the multigenerational photos.
The quilted chuppah was incorporated into a floral arrangement. It looked beautiful!!
Tes and Milan's friends created these lovely prayer flags for them, and the couple chose to have me use them as the focus of their chuppah. They chose a top to bottom look, so that after the wedding, they could easily hang the chuppah on their living room wall. I included a hanging strip on the back. I attached turquoise silk ribbons to each corner to attach the chuppah to its poles.
This chuppah was created using a vintage linen tablecloth as it's base - your grandmother's tablecloth would be lovely, but there is plenty of vintage linen around if your grandmother can't donate one. The colorful part is quilted, and uses a combination of fabric and photo transfer. The quilted section here measures about 21" x21", and the outside tablecloth is about 55"x70", giving you enough room to include all the important people you want to be there. Satin ribbon or rings are sewn in (not shown) to attach the chuppah to your poles. All chuppahs are custom, so your quilted section could be larger or smaller, using the colors and fabrics of your choice, and of course, photos of you and your beloved!
This chuppah is a commemorative piece I created as a birthday present for my husband. In addition to photos of us and our children, I used scanned images of places where we have lived and traveled, musicians who are among those we've loved, food and drink that we have shared, our pets, and even some meaningful baseball cards. In addition, there is a piece from one of my grandmother's handkerchiefs, a prayer flag from Nepal and even a section of baseball leather. Almost anything can be incorporated in a chuppah!! It measures 60"x60". Rings or ribbon would be added to attach to your poles. Please see About my Chuppahs for more details.
